I cut the hole for my board today and yes as usual I cut the hole way to big one side and then files it down to big on the other trying to even it out was about ready to toss the whole thing in the trash but decided tomorrow is a different day to try and make it fit.

It can be frustrating I know, do what you can. It doesn't need to be perfect nobody will see it. The display is more important.

here are the before and after still not sure it will work just because of how high the cut out is the board is not very stable

It should work, try using standoffs with a large base, maybe that'll make it more stable.
