some ideas fore the future
#1
Hi there
Maybe you can creat 2 kinds off software.
1- for fresh water tanks ( your current pack)
2- for salt water tanks (you  current software with a few changes)
i don't knowe it's possible.
Your system now is realy good for fresh water tanks. ( lots off respect for you that you can create this.)
For salt water you can maybe make a few adjustments. Its more delicate.
Thinks that are already good and need no changes is.
Temperture
Feeding program
Lightning program
Fans (cooler) and heating with relay

Things i think that can add more fore reef tanks
A mode for stream pumps that can mimic ocean current.
Example wave, left on right of 30sec then changes to left off right on for 30 sec.
Ato system ( the thing you are already busy with)
Zeovit shaker. A relay that can shake your zeovit reactor 2 times a day for about 10sec.
Somthing for your calciumreactor? Ph phrobe and co2 ex..
Dosing pumps that can dose multyple times per day.
Now you can select monday thusday.... maybe you can change 24 h (1 day ) in houres. Sowe you can select a specifick houre and not a day.

What do you think off this. I want too help you if you need some info.

Maybe start a poll for this what te people want. OF think af this.
I do my best too help and maybe i can sell in belgium some systems for you.

Hey Dice, thanks, this is great feedback, I love it and exactly what I need. I don't know a lot about the hobby and learning everyday, its nice to see people go to such extremes to try and replicate nature. I'm a fresh water guy because I like the plants, of course I would like the best of both world but they seem to recommend again that. Smile

Like most I was inspired by someone, I came across a guy who made a nice graphical DIY controller using a 3.2" screen, he calls it iAqua, maybe you've heard of it. I loved the thing and was going to build one for my tank but that never happened. I asked the guys permission if I could redo the display to fit a 5" screen and started doing that, I was having so much fun I kept taking it up a level. I hated the fact the display was stuck to the equipment and would have all these wires coming out of it so I did whatever it took to separate them. Now its at a point where almost everything is different however all basically based on the same principles, so my point is don't give me to much respect for originality. My biggest achievements has been the display and nice looking, friendly GUI, for an arduino that is. GUI's and arduinos don't really go together so well. One of my goals has always been to make it as customizable as possible, getting the relay icons to change was a good feeling. So yeah its almost all different now so I felt it was ok for me to do my thing.

None of this was expected or planned, I technically don't even need a controller for my tank, only the lights. I dose nothing so its hard to imagine needing 8, that's why I just calibrated the other day. One reason updates aren't coming out fast etc.. is because I've always been trying to keep this fun, not work or a chore. So I'm not working on it everyday because of life and work plus I want to make sure I give people who have it any support they require. I'm always thinking about it though and for sure one thing when I start something I finish it strong. That's why I can't stop, I see all the things you mention and others have mentioned so yeah its not a complete controller yet. But you can cross off some of those things, they're in the works as you , getting ever so close, I think haha. I just received the new boards for the ATO, sensors, ethernet, wave maker and I think something else. I should have one together early next week so I can start on the code again and getter done. I'm looking forward to putting the ATO system together, I know I should be doing the internet first but this seems like more fun. I'm a little nervous doing the wave maker, I see videos with people making these 1-2" waves and I cringe thinking the tank is going to burst. I'm thinking I might try and make waves in the bathtub.  K05163 I think I have some good ideas for the wavemaker. Those are easier cause they make sense but when I see Zeovit shaker and calciumreactor I think I'm in the wrong business. Once I get into the thick of it I'll definitely have some questions. Feel free to start a poll, there should be a link at the bottom of the thread under the quick reply box on the left side. I wouldn't know what to put in it haha.

Rob any time you have questions about reef tanks and equipment never hesitate to ask

Just for the idea.
a zeovit system is "the" reactor for sps coral.
It has to be shaked 2 times a day. evry shake it releases some pulp. That feed coral. For people with less time or for holidays. Thats a problem. so the german company "koralenzücht" has now a auto shaker.
A regular zeovit reactor costs 200$->350$.
The auto zeovit system costs incl. The reactor..... over 1500$
What is in this package. The reactor. A small box with screen. With timer In it. And a small electric motor that mounths on the top of the reactor.
The only thing it does is a timer wil start the electric motor on the reactor at 9am for 10 sec. "1sec left and 1 sec right." and at 9pm 10 sec. "1sec left 1 sec right"
If you can calulate 1200$ for a box with a small screen and a button. And a engine.??? Its a lot off money. I can buy for this a new engine for my car. I was considdering to make this with a arduino butt i don't now enyting about this. I Want too learn it. It's not that easy.
when i serged it on you tube.  i came up on your video of your controler. And i wasrealy impressed.

I'm going to butt a poll on a dutch forum.
That they make a poll for me. With what they want a controler to do best for them. And then i give you guy's some feedback ok?

Thanks rott, your info has been good so far but I've got enough for now, actually to much so I want to wait till I need it or I'll be asking again.

One thing is for sure, they know you guys will pay anything, these prices are crazy. I'm going to look for some videos of it in action.

Don't let not knowing get you down, I didn't know a thing when I started and never heard of ardunio, I got here by being determined, I shouldn't quite many times.

For sure do the poll and post back the results, the more feedback the better. I appreciate it.
