Hi Rob,
I have a problem finding the directory. I follow the instructions and go to point 7. I can not find the C: \ Users \ vilich \ AppData \ Roaming \ Arduino15 \ packages \ arduino \ hardware \ sam \ 1.6.5 directory on the computer. I tried on two computers under windows 7 and windows 10.
Thanks in advance.

How did you solve it? I'm having this same issue installing the new IDE. I'm also using Windows 10.

Hi Koast, if step 4 was successful then the problem is likely because the directory "AppData" is hidden. Windows automatically hides that directory because it has system files in it which normally don't need any attention.
In the Windows file explorer you'll see a button top left corner "organize", click that and click on "Folder and search options".
A window will open, click the "view" tab and you'll see a list of options. The 7th line you'll see "Hidden files and folders", click the option to "show hidden files, folders and drives". Then press ok and you should be able to browse to the directory.
