Controller Fan
#1
Hi team, how do you configure the onboard controller fan port on a version 3 robotank controller?

Thanks,
Sam.

Hi Sam, the fan port is controllable through reef-pi, here's how you set it up.
  • In reef-pi go to the "configuration" tab and then click on the "connectors" sub-tab.
  • Now scroll down near the bottom to the "Jack" section and add a new "Jack".
  • For the new "Jack" select "Extra ports" driver and pin "5". Then name it anything and save.
  • Now go to the "admin" sub-tab and press the "reload" button.
  • Now go to the "lights" tab and create a new light mode.
  • For the channel select the Jack you just created, give it a name and save.
  • Now press the "Manual" or maybe it's "Auto" button to put it in manual mode, when you do this you'll see a slider. Now you can adjust the speed of the fan using it.
One thing to note before you setup the port, if you haven't verify the red and black wire go to positive and negative side of the plug, the board has a + - sign on each pin. Some fans are wired backwards so best to be safe. With a little force you can plug it in backwards if necessary.
