Create a new file and name it wpa_supplicant.conf
#1
Silly noob question.

I am following the instructions for adding a new file to the root directory but the only option I seem to have is add a new folder.
I am sure this is not correct, I have tried Dr Google but can seem to work it out.

What am I missing / doing wrong?

I have the overlays folder and lots of files, just can not seem to add one.
Help appreciated please.

thanks
Arron

Hi Dukereef,

Yes, this will work perfect with notepad, however make sure that your file extension is .conf and not .txt.

Kind regards,

Yeah as Jimmy mentioned notepad will work good. When you create the new file it will be a .txt file, if you don't see that after the file name you have to enable a settings in Windows. Here's a write up on how to do that.

Thanks for the reply - I have done this and loaded the new files on to the SD - put this in the Pi4 and run PuTTy and I can not find the IP address.
Logged in to my router - not there and tried Angry IP Scanner - does not work.
should i see the Pi in my computer?

Pi4 has red light on, green did a series of flashes, i read this is normal - only using USB C to power the Pi - is that correct.
everything else went fine.

Make sure the file has your credentials and the country code is correct in the file you are creating.
