Question before ordering - philips - 01-03-2018

Hi Rob,

I have fews question about Calcium and Alkalinity follow link, can them work with your controller; Happy new year!

RE: Question before ordering - Rob F - 01-04-2018

Hi Philips, thanks for your interest. I checked out those links and unfortunately none of them will work with the controller. When I was looking at the Vernier probe I noticed it and others seems to be compatible with an Arduino so these should work with the proper code added. When I get a chance I'm going to go over it better as I would like to get as many probes working as I can.

Happy new year

Hi Rob F,

Thanks for your reply! Because Calcium parameter is must have for me, Can I send Vernier Calcium probe to you then you customize for me?

Thanks

RE: Question before ordering - Rob F - 01-05-2018

That might be the best way, I also have no problem sending you test sketches so you can verify things are good and then I would add to controller. First I should do some more research so I know what's all involved but I feel good about it because they do mention the Arduino. Mainly I'm not sure if it can be connected directly to an analog pin or if some circuit is required. I see they have a shield available but I'm not sure what's on it.

RE: Question before ordering - rott - 01-05-2018

Philips what do you use to run the Vernier probe they are a company that sells to institutional use like Universities and Labs I have a few versions of Ph probes and calcium and lung capacity I think I even have the one for respiration using the probe to USB converter box then do the samples and graphing with Logger Pro.

to make it work on Robo tank you need to cut the white plug off the end I for get if it is just 2 wires or maybe a couple I think my work has some of these if you need me to look but you might look in to some thing like this https://www.vernier.com/products/accessories/protoboard-adapters/btd-elv/ but I would call Vernier up and ask there people to make sure they are very knowledgeable about this stuff and easy to work with.

RE: Question before ordering - philips - 01-05-2018

Thanks Rob F and Rott,

Let me describe what to do with controller's Rob F; I using it for aquaculture like crab, lobster, shrimp... in saltwater, because calcium indicate is need when they molting, so as I said it's must have Smile

@Rob F; please PM your address to ship Vernier ISE from Sargent Welch for you: https://www.sargentwelch.com/store/product/8891778/vernier-calcium-ion-selective-electrode
Another question can I controller DC pump from jebao: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Jebao-Jecod-DCP-Series-3000-20000-DC-Sine-Wave-Return-Pump-DCT-DCS-upgrade/222756903946?hash=item33dd589c0a:m:mvNLBxL12wE5GgKBTsJ7V0Q (I using 2 pcs for skimmer with flow rate 50m3/h)

@Rott; I will using Atlas Scientific kit: https://www.atlas-scientific.com/product_pages/kits/env-sds-kit.html as Rob F mention in controller  feature, but they doesn't have Calcium probe, can you suggest what kind of calcium probe compatible with Robo-Tanks controller?

RE: Question before ordering - Rob F - 01-06-2018

I was looking more at the Calcium probe and pretty sure we can get it working however I don't know what to say about the Jebao DCP pump. Jebao has so many models of pumps and it looks like some will work and some won't however I don't want to say the DCP type will work when I've never tried it, I can only say I "think" it will work. This is the hardest part, I don't have money to order all the different type of equipment so I usually have rely on customers trying and testing their equipment.

RE: Question before ordering - rott - 01-07-2018

I have the Conductivity Kit K 1.0 I haven't used it yet but people I know that have it say it works great most of them are on one kind of DIY controller or another

I also need to know how hard is it to add a BNC to the atlas ports for probes I know there are some holes on the board for the green connectors but the round wires coming out of the probes and going to the BNC connector on the end is very thin and if you cut it I am afraid I will never get them separated to go to the green connectors

RE: Question before ordering - Rob F - 01-08-2018

Hi Rott, you don't want to cut the BNC off the probe, when you add the carrier board you'll have the BNC socket to plug in. This is the carrier board, the kit comes with a non-isolated carrier board so if you have PH as well you'll need to get the following board for each circuit, this one is isolated and will keep them from interfering with each other.

RE: Question before ordering - rott - 01-12-2018

for what 3 of them cost you could get a https://www.atlas-scientific.com/product_pages/components/tentacle-shield.html and bobs your uncle

RE: Question before ordering - philips - 01-13-2018

Hi Rob F, can your controller plug and play with Atlas Scientific kit: https://www.atlas-scientific.com/product_pages/kits/env-sds-kit.html or using Tentacle Shield as Rott mention?

Yeah you can use the kit or the tentacle shield. If you use the tentacle shield you need a logic level converter as the controller is 3.3v and shield is 5v.

If you get the kit you need to get the isolation circuit add-on they offer. Also the temperature circuit and probe that comes in the kit doesn't work with the controller.
