NiCrew Hyper Reef 150's

@Rob F I am trying to setup my new Robo Tank to work with some new NiCrew Hyper Reef 150's. I can get them to work but each channel when not at full power flickers. I have my dip switches set for 0-10 analog and I have tried all 4 ports. I have a v3 controller and am running v 6.6 Any Insights?

Hi @Tea, sorry you are experiencing that, unfortunately I think it's due to the frequency the pca9685 is set at with my app, currently you can't change that, I almost have an update ready and will look into adding that first. I'm pretty sure it's 0-10v analog but can you try 0-10v PWM just in case? I think like that it will flicker more but maybe I'm wrong. I know one light out there is 0-10v PWM.

I tried both analog and PWM with the same results. I did however find an article that someone posted that you might have to use a TRRS cable and omit a 24v connection that they started using to power their controller. I had to order a TRRS cable to test but it won’t be here until Tuesday.

My theory did not result in any better results. I will anxiously await your new release.

The connections look ok and as it's working I think it's ok. Any chance you have an extra SD card laying around? If so maybe install reef-pi and do a quick test to make sure I'm correct in my theory. Here's the install link.

Interested in results.
I think that solved it, for sure I was chatting with someone not long ago who had the same issues and switching to reef-pi fixed it.

The problem is the PWM frequency, default it's set to 200Hz which is too low for the filtering, the higher the frequency the easier it is to smooth out. If it's set to 1500Hz it's ok. It's taking me a long time to add that because I keep bricking my pca9685 with faulty commands I send it and then I have to replace it, real pain so I've been avoiding it. I did get some external boards so I can play with them, haven't done it yet but will try soon so it can be changed in the app. Sorry until then you'll have to use reef-pi.
