New idea

Hi Rob,
I want to setup a fish only small saltwater tank and just thought if it is doable to create a robo-tank all in one controller for a small setup. Just two AC outlet, 1 optical sensor, 1 temp sensor, 2-3 DC outlets with float sensor backup. It uses pi zero wifi. Is it hard to make it? Do you think it is worth? i would definitely buy a couple of it. It may be great for a freshwater setup too.

Hi @mytdbm that is a good idea and something I've thought about but I'm not sure when it will happen as I'm working on new hardware features and want to focus on the app more. I think there's more value improving the software right now as the hardware is reliable. Sometime in the near future I may offer a 4 outlet power bar as 8 is a lot for many small setups.

Rob, I'm sorry the manuals don't include the DC/sensor and expander expansion to better identify their DB connector pins. It would also be good to propose a topology for connecting accessories, something similar I saw on the kickstarter for the new controller.

Sorry, I don't have a manual for those extensions, if you look in the controller manual and go to the power bar section you'll see the pinouts of the DB9, the female connector shows the pinouts for the controller and the male plug shows the extension. Hopefully that will get you going.

Is this the diagram you are referring to? It still applies to the other controller versions only the ports listed on the main controller are different.

Ahoj, keď navrhuješ nový ovládač, môžeš namiesto kolíkového spojenia vytvoriť skrutkové spojenie s I2C. I will connect 2x expander + 2x DC/sensor extension and therefore I want to use as many ports as possible. With this new project of mine I will control 3 aquariums + RODI system. Each port will be connected with a backup relay module.IMG_20241127_194935.jpg

Looks great, very clean wiring. Whenever I redo the controller I will probably go to a plug for the I2C. I can see you are using the external I2C connection however I don't see where it's running to, it's very important to keep those wires as short as possible and away from the AC wiring. I see an empty space on the right side of the controller, if possible it would be best to mount the I2C devices there so you can use 6" cables.

A slight change will still be dealt with, so I will try to make it as good as possible. I just wrote to you from another email about the problem with the ports, can you help me?
