False PH Reading

Hi Rob,

When I turn on my T5 lights, my robo-tank PH reader acts crazy. Reading sharply drops as soon as I turn on my T5s, from 8 to 7.1. Do you have any idea what is up with it? I thought the ballasts were creating electrical noises, so I replaced them, but I still had the same issue. Do you have any idea how to solve it? Thank you.

Oh no, sounds like possibly some airborne interference which ballasts are known for.

One way you might be able to test this theory is wrap the controller a few times in tinfoil which should block some of the noise getting to the circuit. Try that to see if it improves or clears up. Another test you could do is move the controller to another room.

If either of fixes the issue try relocating the controller, if it's in a cabinet you could try wrapping tinfoil around some cardboard and tack it to the inside top of the cabinet creating a shield. Also rerouting AC cables from the light might help.
