DB9 to RJ45

I’m looking to run a sensor module in my garage about 60 feet away from the main unit. Is it ok to use ethernet cable with a DB9 to RJ45 adapter on each end?

Example: Amazon.com

Ok, thank you

Would the 60 feet be too far for the I2C cable to run a PCA9685 expander?

In either case, I’ll probably use custom cable. Do you have a cable size (AWG) recommendation for that length?

Definitely to long for I2C, that can only be 6" of cable, I send some jumpers along to connect it to the controller.

If you make a cable it's straight through, pin 1 to 1, 2 to 2, etc. Don't need anything connected to the casing, just the 9 pins. 28 AWG should be fine as this is all very low current, if you see 26 at the same price get it otherwise 28 will be ok.
