2025 Year End Summary, About Time!!!

Hey everyone, I hope you're all doing well.

1st... Ummm, what can I say, I'm very sorry to everyone for appearing to disappear. I only really disappeared from my forum and reef2reef forum as I've always been available via email. Long story why I never logged into my forum (I couldn't) but I should have solved it much sooner.

2nd. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to everyone, I hope you enjoy your time with family and friends.

What's going on with me and Robo-Tank... Well it's a story but I will summarize, I moved to Thailand for a year as I was lucky to get a contract that I could do remotely so I decided to go there as I visit often and love it. :) Had a great time and was even shipping controllers from there, never missed a beat. Then I came back to Canada... :(

While there, I was working on an update for the current app and had got a lot done but somehow I lost it all, to this day I don't understand exactly how but I did. Then I decided to focus on the new app I was planning as some fundamental changes needed to be done, always learning, so I went that route. I was hoping to have it released for Jan 1 but I need a little more time, 100% it's coming, well over half way there for the 1st release.

I really do appreciate all of you for supporting me, if you put the controller away because you think I abandoned it, pull it out, dust it off and get ready for a new Robo-Tank. I still really do love doing this even if it appears I don't.

It's a little sad, my 10th anniversary passed on Sept 16, 2025 (1st sale). I was hoping to highlight that somehow but it wasn't possible. That's ok though because I can easily see another 10+ years of development so the big celebration will be 20 years, see you then... :)
 
Great to see you back. I purchased a kit a few months ago and it is running my reef. Looking forward to the updates we talked about via email.

I'm still figuring out making all my equipment work with robo tank but it's coming along. Built a nice cabinet with a touch screen in the front of it. To house everything. I have 2 sets of lights nicrew navareef 135. Those are easy to adapt. The others are nicrew classic led lightbar styles. Im still trying to figure those out for wiring. Sensors are hooked up. Pumps are ready to go so this weekend ill let it go live with controlling the tank. Even if I haven't fully sorted out my lights. I have backups set up so if I have any failure with the robo tank setup it will still keep the tank from having an issue. Once im fully setup the robo tank will be 100% running things.

Hi @jimmth glad to hear things are going well, I hope it does everything you need. Any comments or suggestions feel free to create a thread.

Glad to hear your back at it, I am excited about the new app, hopefully it will fix the few issues you and I have discussed for me.
 
Is the new app going to include support for smart plugs?
I’ve seen people set up Kasa smart switches on reefpi and was wondering if this is achievable with robotank app

For sure not on the first release. This is something I'm thinking about but not sure when it might happen.

Hey @simonv92 thanks for checking in, almost perfect timing. It's really about to happen and I would love someone to give it a test beforehand. It has all the systems of the current app but all much better, I think... The other day I add a first run wizard and now going to work on the install script, after that I'll send you a link.
