No PWM signal on light outputs
#1
Hi,

I have the display and main controller connected by the UTP cable.
Humidity/temp sensor works and all seems okay.

Connected my scope but... at this moment, I cannot get any signal from the PWM light outputs.
Put al the sliders half way in all modes, no luck.
The Temporary Light Modes is the same.

I must be doing something wrong here... ;-)

Kind regards,

Arne.

Hi Arne, don’t know about the scope but if you use a volt meter the top row is positive and bottom row is ground. At halfway you should have about 2.5v, 5v at full and 0v at off. Touch any ground pin on the board and run along top row of each channel to see the voltage. I do this during my testing, it did check out good so maybe it’s a scope setting.

Hi Rob,

Of course you checked good... ;-)

I checked with the multimeter and indeed it shows somewhere between 0 and 5V.
I thought to myself, then it should be visable on the scope too...

Don't ask me why but it now works...
I also thought about the scope but this scope has a "Auto set", you can just push it and it adjust all the settings a way you have a visable picture.
It did the same this time.

But, I will keep an eye on it. I hate it when I can't figger out what's happening... ;-)

Kind regards,

Arne.

Thanks Rob.

When I look at the Robo-Tank software: I wish I knew what I 'm looking at... ;-)
You're looking at two different pulse widths Rob.
I will keep an eye on the outputs.

Kind regards,

Arne.

Rob,

This might be interesting...

I checked all channels in different modes.
What I noticed is this: it looks like at the very early beginning the slider values or not known and the ouput is 0V, no pulses...

Let me put it this way, I found a couple of channels that had no output signal what so ever, eventhough the slider was somewhere between the top and bottom.
So an output should be there.
When you touch the slider only once, the output works flawless.
This is the same in all light modes.

Could it be that there's no slider value in eeprom at the early startup/first startup?
Or that the value is 0 eventhough the slider shows something different?

Kind regards,

Arne.

had the same thing, at first setup you can slide all you want but nothing happens..
as soon as there is a value and the lights run they respond properly to the PWM

Fietsenrex, it looks like you only have to touch the slider for the outputs to start working.
Maybe an initialisation issue?
Rob will know... ;-)

I'm still shocked I haven't experienced this, does you're still act up Fietsenrex?

Arne is this the same issue on the other thread? Sounds like it, hope so. :)

nope only at first setup, as you and arne discussed in the other thread.
proper solution for a "minor error" ;)
I'll respond in the other thread about the sliders ;)
