Coming Soon - All-In-One Power Bar Board

Hi, so I've been working on a board that has everything on it. One feature is a Digital to Analog converter for 8 of the LED channels so you can use any drivers without another board. I just ordered some new connector boards for the other kit which also has that feature along with hopefully fully working expansion hubs.

The point of this board is for those who want everything in a single small package. The board measures about 9.6" x 5.1" and fits the Bud Industries CU-3286 Project Box, that's the box in my images. The only expansion would be another box for 8 more AC power outlets if you wanted them, this box is good for 8.

It has 22 USB-A ports, 3 RJ45's and a power jack. One of the RJ45 has all 8 pins going to a header so they can be used for anything. You could add small jumpers from relays 9-16 and use the plug for them as an example. Could also be more dosing pumps in the future. It also has all kinds of jumpers so different ports can be configured to do different things. The arduinos go on the bottom and w5100 goes on top right side.

damn wait a minute did I say that damn that is sweet you do know when I was telling you this was the next big step I was totally kidding but man this is going to great what are the arduinos that go on the back I am hoping you can double stack the one with the ICSP header for Ethernet but I don't see one for the other side so that is the DUE or some thing? but will be cool to see the real thing

Right after you mentioned it someone else did to, I was playing with the other boards and having fun so I thought I would jump in. The power bar mega and ethernet due go on this board, the w5100 stacks on top of due.

this is a nice looking board and is every thing all in one with a bunch more connections I was just trying to figure out every thing I can connect it to and can not come up with 22 USB-A ports to connect stuff to

is the one board missing a ICSP header ? the 6 pins in the middle of the board

Exactly, there's room for your toaster and coffee maker. :) If someone adds the expansion hub to the current kit you also end up with 22 USB ports.

The missing ICSP header is on the mega, it's not required so I didn't add it. One less thing to solder. Wink

Sure there is, right under the B in Robo-Tank which isn't going to be there.

That's where the mega goes. They plug in the bottom of the board and w5100 on top.

The board with NO ICSP header and the w5100 shield plugs in to is a mega. And the other board WITH the ICSP header is a mega also? does any thing more plug in to that? with running mega's on a main board like that can you use a memory chip

Nice work Rob! I will DEFINITELY use it on my 2ND GEN Robo-Tank! As we have discussed in PM, my goal is to utilize a cabinet design that also houses my LED power supply (Mean Well) and LDDs (on a PCB) to create a clean one box solution for controller AND power for lights. Are those the (16 pairs) outputs for the LEDs in the upper left of the top photo? Looks like I'll be able to keep all PS wiring internal to the case. Regarding the SPARE RJ-45. If you use it to control the 8 ch on the relay for remote power, HOW WOULD YOU PASS GROUND? I have successfully placed an 8 channel relay into an existing case on a Mr DJ PSC108 power strip. I plan on using a DB9 D-sub connector to pass BOTH 8 ch relay signals AND the 5v to power the relays. I am waiting on parts, but I am hoping that I can use a standard straight thru SHIELDED serial cable. The ninth pin will pass 5v+ and the shield will pass ground through the connector. The power strip is still uses own AC cable to energize the outlets.

You're all confused haha... The footprint with no ICSP is for the mega, just like the power bar board you have. The footprint with the ICSP is for the Due that controls the ethernet and other equipment. That's why the ICSP header because the w5100 goes on the Due. It's exactly what you have + the expansion hub.

Thanks Steve, looking forward to seeing it in action. Yeah the header at the top left is for the LED's, 8 of them can now be any signal type. Passing the ground to the relay would be for you to figure out, haha, I wish 10 pin was standard. That pesky ground wire is always an issue. The DB9 is probably best as you mention and since they have the ones that mount to the box and not the board it can be added easily. I suppose the RJ45 would work if you had the power supply outside the power bar box which the ground could come from but yeah either way it would be an extra wire. There was room so I thought it may as well be there.
